Key West Spearfishing Video – June

Been saving up video clips for past month or so, and put them together, its a bit long but oh well …. A bunch of footage of various sea creatures and a few fish being shot

Catherine shot 90% of the video, might have to get the gun cam mount for the black grouper. Keep missing them with the video.

Instagram post 2077215457178217744_1549793627 Second one of the season. Took some shots of the school but the lens was fogged and they came put pretty terrible. #spearfish #spearfishing #freediving @iuseaspear aspear

Instagram post 2037300924218513702_1549793627 Feels like forever since I have in the water and pulled the trigger.
Been spending all my time behind a computer instead of diving. Was scared I might start to suck like y'all do but it hasn't happened yet.
Thanks to salty Dennis for letting me hold his fish.

Instagram post 1891711352477802123_1549793627 After seemingly a million miles of travel finally got in the water yesterday. I got my first GT, which was actually pretty good to eat. So far Bali has been a pretty amazing place to visit. Diving yesterday with @spearfishing.germany and @inkandboater #spearfishing #freediving #indonesia
Instagram post 1854701398894280540_1549793627 Vis wasn't that great when I went in with the camera but you can still see some of the school.
There was so many fish when they would start moving they would kick up a huge dust cloud decreasing the vis even more. There was actually some really good surface vis this trip but the 10 feet tended to be kind of crappy. @iuseaspear #stripedbass #freediving #spearfish #spearfishing #montauk #longisland #freedivephotography #underwaterphotography
Instagram post 1853291681684891091_1549793627 Thought this one was bigger because it was swimming with a school of smaller fish. It was big enough. Huge schools of bass today, not really that great of vis for pictures. Good day of diving with @iuseaspear Got my bluefish #bass #stripedbass #montauk #freedive #spearfish
Instagram post 1830091078582340261_1549793627 Busted out the underwater camera to get some photos of the schools of 40ish pound bass. #spearfishing #speartheworld #freediving #underwaterphoto @iuseaspear @spearitcharters
Instagram post 1828676563433038022_1549793627 Last bass of the trip. Tried to hold out for the monster but ran out of time. Very difficult sizing these fish when you are unfamiliar with them. Vis was much better then the first day. water was definitely just as cold. #spearfishing #freediving #bass #stripedbass #pescadores @spearitcharters @iuseaspear
Instagram post 1827580454476433528_1549793627 after spending all day passing on 25-30 pound fish, it was getting late, the vis got terrible and I was beginning to think that I would actually not get a fish this day. then this thing swam pretty much right into me. 42 pounds, shot using vlad roller gun. also got black sea bass might be a first for me. #spearfishing #freediving #bass #stripedbass #diving @iusaspear
Instagram post 1814208326439821898_1549793627 Another great day diving with @ronniejc94 @rubbatoe @diana___abrams and @ivyleaguecontent We started the day out deep in the clear water but it was kind of slow. Much better shooting on the shallow green water. Rigs are just packed with life.

Big mangroves, tank barracudas, all kinds of jacks and bait. I was laying on a cross beam and this cobia came in, so close I had to actually put the gun sort of behind me to shoot it, right in the top of its head and out through its heart. It was gushing blood like a hose. It actually played dead but came back to life when I grabbed it and ran between two pipes and slammed back and forth ripping itself off some how. Luckily Roberto was there to hit is again.

I got some really nice mangroves but didn't't take any pics of them, did get a photo of one medium sized one.
Cat was diving with me after being out of the water forever, which was great.
Pretty awesome fishery in the gulf. Not quite as clear as I am used to but you get used to it.
